The Weingart Center’s Policy on Privacy
This policy is posted to assist you in understanding how information we may collect is used and safeguarded and to help you in your decision making process as you navigate our website. This is a living document and will change and evolve as technologies evolve so that we can continue to protect your personal information.
Types of Information Collected
There are two types of information which may be collected when you browse our website. One type of information is collected on an aggregate basis as all users browse the site. This enables us to understand our traffic loads and patterns and contains no personal information. The second type is information you knowingly provide to us such as email addresses or credit card and contact information.
- Information Collected in Aggregate Form
- Personal Information You Willingly Disclose
1. Information You Willingly Disclose
If you choose to sign up for email and/or newsletter correspondence, or donate, you may be providing us with information such as:
- Credit Card Numbers
- Email address
- Other personal information
Credit Card records are handled via secured services, such as Qgiv. Qgiv’s privacy policies may be read by visiting their Privacy and Security page. Email correspondence content may be retained with addresses and our responses for purposes of tracking our communications with donors.
2. Information Collected in Aggregate Form
As is common among many web host services, we are provided with information showing us number of browsers during a give time period, pages visited, what pages browsers came from to our web site and where they went subsequently. There is no personal information associated with this information other than IP address and country of origin.
Use of Information
Information that you willingly provide to us is used for the purposes of communicating to you. At times we may occasionally inform you via email about developments in our organization or new services. You will always be given the option of removing yourself from these correspondences at any time.
Information that is collected in aggregate form is used in the development of our sites to improve design and to better serve our supporters. This information is not used in any other way.
Disclosure of Information
We do not disclose personal information to outside parties. Traffic information that is collected in aggregate form may be shared with third parties for the purpose of maintaining and developing relationships with affiliate partners.
Legally Required Disclosure of Information
There may arise times when we would be legally compelled to disclose information to law enforcement authorities. If a case should arise in which we felt ethically or legally obligated to do so then specific information would be disclosed.
The HIPAA Privacy Rule provides federal protections for personal health information held by covered entities and gives patients an array of rights with respect to that information. At the same time, the Privacy Rule is balanced so that it permits the disclosure of personal health information needed for patient care and other important purposes.
