On a cloudy, overcast Saturday morning in May, over 300 volunteers from LADPSS arrived at the Weingart Center. With our community partner, Eyes Not Forgotten, they distributed food, clothing, and hygiene kits to members of the Skid Row community.

The Weingart Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that provides homeless individuals with the basic skills necessary to stabilize their lives, secure income, and find permanent housing. Our mission is to empower and transform lives by delivering innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness. “Over the last decade, I feel that our society has become complacent regarding the homeless in our country,” says Rich. “Nobody in America should be without a place they call home. I joined the Weingart Center Board because I believe the people of the Weingart Center has a solution that can change the lives of thousands and make the city of Los Angeles an even greater place to live,” adds Rich. “Please join me in contributing to an organization that provides a solution to homelessness in our city.”

Rich is a recently retired Audit Partner with Grant Thornton LLP.  Over his 30 year career with Grant Thornton, Rich has provided auditing, accounting, SEC and business advisory services to entertainment, consumer products, restaurants, real estate and manufacturing companies.

Rich graduated from Pace University, New York where he received his B.S. in Accounting. He is a certified public accountant in California and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Rich is a past chair of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (“CalCPA”), a membership organization with over 40,000 members. 


Weingart provides secure housing and a structured environment to ensure participants make a successful transition into a job and back into society.


Weingart provides treatment for mental health, substance abuse, smoking cessation, trauma, domestic violence, and family reunification with individual and group therapy sessions. For alcohol and drug treatment, we offer a 16-week intensive outpatient program using the evidence-based Matrix Institute model including relapse prevention and one year of after care.


We offer training in basic skills: Resume workshops, mock interviews, and job search techniques. Then clients are placed in specialized training. Weingart also contracts with companies needing employees to place trained personnel into jobs.
