Our Demographics
Homelessness touches men and women of all ages and ethnicities.
The Weingart Center Association is the largest human services agency of its kind in Los Angeles. We have an 11-story residential building that houses 600 men and women daily. Our participants typically have incomes of less than 30% of the poverty line and fall within the “extremely low income” category. Over half are chronically relapsing substance abusers, 14% have significant mental health concerns and 18% have a disability.
Our participants can stay with us for up to two years because we believe that it is important to provide a long-term solution. We do this by providing individuals with the not only the basic necessities but also a plethora of services and most importantly, improved self-worth and hope for the future.
Through our residential programs and our non-residential services, we assist 6,000 homeless individuals each year.
The following charts show the age, ethnicity and gender breakdown for the people living at the Weingart Center Association who are trying to turn their lives around.
