Overview

The Weingart Center Association provides individuals with everything they need to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty forever— this is Where Transformation Happens.

Innovative — We have a unique therapeutic and comprehensive model that focuses on a long-term solution. Our programs allow men and women to live with us for up to two years while we address all the barriers that led to their homelessness. We then offer solutions that lead to self-sufficiency and new beginnings.  We break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by transforming lives.

The Weingart Center helps homeless men and women:

Individualized — Realizing the diversity within the homeless population, we have created numerous residential programs that are tailored for men, women, veterans, people on parole, HIV+ individuals, the mentally ill, homeless families and people with substance abuse issues.
Our case managers go the extra mile in meeting the needs of our participants.  We work with each of our participants one-on-one to develop a customized course of action, leading to more participant successes in realized dreams and achieved goals.  We also provide services and referrals for homeless and low-income individuals and families through our non-residential programs.

Compassionate — We look at the whole person, not just the fact that he or she is homeless.  We see a man, a father, a woman, a mother...  We see the potential that each individual possesses.  We don’t dwell on where a person has been or what he or she has done— we ask our participants who they want to be, what they want to do and where they want to go.  We restore our participants’ self-esteem and help them heal areas of their lives, giving them hope so they can move forward and achieve their goals.

Professional and Passionate — We have a highly selective hiring process that ensures that we always have dynamic staff members who are not only capable and talented but who also have a passion for the services they provide and the people they serve.

Adaptive — We continually add programs and services in response to the changing needs of our clientele and community.

Comprehensive Life Skills and Preparedness — Our dedicated case managers assist participants with clearing up roadblocks to self-sufficient living, including legal, credit and tax problems, and we prepare our participants to function in the real world. In addition to addressing issues such as substance abuse and mental illness, we also teach our participants how to cope with life’s unexpected challenges. We give them appropriate attire for going on interviews and starting work.  We mandate that our participants save 75% of their income while living with us so they will have a cushion when transitioning into permanent housing and living on their own.  We help participants reestablish relationships with their families.

When our participants leave the Weingart Center, they are healed and whole and ready to start a new chapter in their lives, living self-sufficiently and pursuing their dreams.
