Partners

Weingart Partners
The Weingart Partners is a dynamic group of upwardly mobile professionals who commit themselves to creating a better community by volunteering their time and resources to organize annual fundraising events and activities that will benefit the Weingart Center Association and homelessness throughout Southern California.  The Weingart Partners are an invaluable asset to the Weingart Center Association.

The People
Many of our Weingart Partners are young business professionals, but we also have artists and actors— we welcome all individuals who have an interest in solving homelessness, one of Los Angeles’ most pressing issues.

We know that everyone’s schedules are busy and that the amount of time you have to volunteer changes.  That’s OK.  Contribute what you can when you can, some years you’ll be very active while other years less so.

The Value of Being a Partner
There are main reasons to become a Weingart Partner.  As a Partner, you can:
•    Contribute to one of the country’s largest and most comprehensive transitional housing and human services agencies for the homeless
•    Have close contact in ongoing networking and social activities with like-minded, fun and successful professionals
•    Participate in high profile fundraising events
•    Gain access to Weingart Center board members, who are made up of senior executives of major corporations, financial institutions, law firms, etc.
•    Receive charitable board-level personal development and the potential to eventually join the Weingart Center Board of Directors

Partner Activities
There are many ways that you can help, from being the Event Chair of a major event to simply giving the Weingart Center a referral for a needed service or advice on a particular topic.  Weingart Partners:
•    Plan, produce and host the chic and stylish event, Summer Soiree
•    Organize clothing drives and collect toiletries for the participants at our facility
•    Organize and/or attend participant events such as holiday parties, graduations, and BBQs where you interact with our participants
•    Act as mentors to some of our participants, discussing: burnout prevention; organization culture; professional ethics/boundaries; balancing work/recovery; effective interpersonal skills; and other related topics

Parnter Meetings
We hold monthly meetings, usually on a Tuesday evening, both on the Westside and in Downtown to accommodate everyone’s schedules.  We create an atmosphere that is similar to non-profit board settings so that you can use this experience throughout your career when serving on other charitable boards.

Getting Involved — Become a Weingart Partner Today
The Weingart Partners are constantly striving to increase its quality member base.  Members must be community minded, have an interest and desire to be involved, and, ideally, add value to the Partners’ charitable initiatives.  Members are encouraged to participate on event committees and to bring an energetic perspective to the overarching issues the Weingart Center Association must solve.

“To complement my full-time career in commercial real estate, I had been looking to volunteer personal time in an area of community service that addressed a fundamental need in Los Angeles’ urban core. By attending a Weingart CityLive event in 1992 at Universal Studios, I realized the substantial impact that a small volunteer group, the Weingart Partners, could have on the serious issue of homelessness, not just in terms of raising money, but also in expanding awareness of the homelessness problem within our great City.

“Through a series of monthly meetings and social gatherings, the Weingart Partners have provided both the organizational infrastructure for a major, annual fundraising undertaking in addition to donating time and energy to the operational needs at the Center. As a former President, and longest-standing Partner (over 15 years), I am proud of the tremendous success that the Weingart Partners have had in bringing attention to the critical problem of homelessness and in inspiring hope among those in our City most in need.” --Todd Later, Hines
