Skid Row Agency Receives Grant from Bank of America
The Weingart Center Awarded $30,000 grant for operating needs as Coronavirus results in increased demand for services
Los Angeles, CA – April 23, 2020 — Long-standing Los Angeles based 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Weingart Center, received a $30,000 grant from Bank of America Charitable Foundation for operational needs as the coronavirus creates additional demands and needs for the organization and clients relying on its services.
“We are very pleased and extremely grateful to Bank of America for this substantial gift, which will help support our critical programs and services throughout the year ahead,” states Senator Kevin Murray (ret.), CEO, Weingart Center Association.
Located in Skid Row, the Weingart Center is a unique agency that provides residential and community-based programs that are designed to assist homeless individuals with the basic skills necessary to stabilize their lives, secure income, and find permanent housing. Its mission is to empower and transform lives by delivering innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness.
As a comprehensive human services organization, the Weingart Center provides direct services to more than 40,000 economically disadvantaged individuals per year, offering programs uniquely tailored to meet the needs of a diverse homeless population.
“The virus has created unexpected new demands on nonprofits who serve our most vulnerable populations, including the Weingart Center that is providing additional meals and services. But, together, we can help address this health and humanitarian crisis,” said Raul A. Anaya, Bank of America market president, greater Los Angeles.
